In the past few years, immune-based therapy has rapidly gained success. The latter relies on the boosting of tumor-specific cytotoxic CD8 T lymphocytes. However, in order to escape the immune response, tumor cells use several pathways such as immune checkpoint molecules (that can result in immune suppression) and cytokine secretion. Our team is interested in further understanding the expression and role of such molecules/cytokines in the development of the anti-tumor immune response within the patient’s tumor microenvironment. This project involves a consortium made up of collaborators from distinct specialties including scientists, medical biologists, oncologists, surgeons and statisticians.
