Our research is focused on understanding how human immunity to malaria develops. We are interested in anti-parasitic and tolerogenic responses, and how host age and prior exposure impact the development of protective immunity. We use samples collected from volunteer infection studies and cohorts of children and adults with differing levels of malaria exposure and in vitro assays to understand immune acquisition. We are currently applying single cell sequencing technologies to understand changes to immune cells during infection.
