Dr. Kelly McNagny is a Professor in the Departments of Medical Genetics and Biomedical Engineering at The Biomedical Research Centre, University of British Columbia (UBC). His research interests are in hematopoietic stem cell biology, immunology, chronic inflammatory disease, fibrosis and tissue repair and regeneration. His lab specializes in animal models of human disease and identifying the molecular and cellular pathways governing response to disease. His approach has been to evaluate disease development and resolution in mice carrying mutations in key immune response genes and thereby reveal the importance of these pathways to disease progression. Current projects include:

  • the role of innate lymphoid cells in immune mucosal inflammatory disease (allergy , asthma, Crohn’s disease, etc).
  • the role of innate lymphoid cells in tissue homeostasis
  • immune response in chronic kidney disease
  • the role of the microbiome in disease
  • novel immunotherapuetic strategies to treatment of cancer
