Our lab focus is on translational immunology and allergy in African populations. We currently have a few major projects including: i) the immune mechanisms responsible for delayed hypersensitivity reactions, particular severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions in HIV infected patients, ii) chronic urticaria and angioedema and the role and mechanisms by which food additives aggravate and endemic products can suppress allergic inflammatory pathways, and iii) the identification of novel gene mutations in South African patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases.
